In this paper, we present a new maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm that can identify whether boost converter is operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM) or discontinuous (DCM). The conventional MPPT assumes the always CCM mode, even though not case. enter DCM due to factors such as inductor size, irradiance and temperature conditions, voltage step size of algorithm, PV array. proposed work, evaluated under different conditions. region I–V curve where likely operate identified mathematical expression developed work then used detect converter. incorporates into modified perturb observe (P&O) algorithm. each iteration, first detects If takes large force back i.e., constant current region. was tested using simulation experiments, results show significantly improve efficiency process.
